MAGIC STONES

General:

There are a plethora of Magic Stones. Each one does something different, and almost all stones have been able to
have their power harnessed for some use.

How they are formed:

Magic Stones are created when there is a place that has an abnormal amount of one Magic type. There can be
many reasons that this happens. One way is that it's a natural phenomenon. Another is by artificial means. To
accomplish a stone this way though is very difficult and the rewards, though good, can take years to do properly and
if the one attempting this doesn't know what they're doing, the years could end up being in vain. The Third way is
that there's a group of magical spirits, artifacts or something of the like in a concentrated area. This is the believed
reason why Magical Stones can be found randomly in old ruins or temples.

Size:

There is no size limitation for a Magic Stone. Larger stones can be 'treated' which means simply to chip and cut
away proper amounts to be used in other things.

The largest stones are the
Communication Stones.

The smallest stones are
Ring Stones.

Types:

Communication Stones: They can be found around the outer Rim of the continent. They spread out from the Sea
and slowly head inwards in straight lines. They're an opaque off dusty yellow colour. It has been observed that the
larger and farther away they get, the more pale they are in colour. This was discovered when a group of explorers
found an underground vein of the stone, and saw that it had a very dark burn yellow tint. Another unique thing to
this stone type is that the farther away from the sea they get, the larger they get. Though not proven, people believe
that the Communication Stones somehow harness the energy of the sea to grow. This would account for the steady
stone growth if the farther away the stone got,  the larger the 'nodes' have to be to draw the energy needed for it.
The farthest Communication Stone is five hundred miles away from the coast line. It reaches a couple hundred feet
into the sky and is a hundred feet around.

Communication stones are called such since every piece of 'connected' Technology has a Communication Stone
core.

All the stones are connected together, since the magic they use is from the sea. It is just as easy and clear to call
someone on the opposite coast as it is to call someone down the street from you.

The Communication Stones do have a range, and in the inner part of Sahnlinn there are 'Last Chance' Huts, made
to alert people that they have reached the range of the stone, and beyond that point there is no reception available
by 'conventional' means.

There are ways of still communicating when out in the very large 'dead area'. One way is to use your Familiar,
though most aren't pleased with such thoughts. Another is to have learned a 'Talk' spell. This can allow you to
speak to someone who's almost anywhere. There are a few rare occasions where this doesn't work. Any place that
has a very high concentration of magic that's relic or rune based. Rune and Relic magic are very different and can
cause sever magical interference if one doesn't know how to cast 'around' it. Even then there are times when such a
thing is not possible.

There was an effort put fort to remove Nodes and move them into the inner part of Sahnlinn to allow communications
everywhere. The '
Wineforth Technologies' discovered that yes, you can do this, the removed area will grow back
but the removed node will loose it's energy. Even when many nodes are placed in clusters, they cannot 'feed' off
each other and keep themselves sustained. As of yet, there is no known way to extend the stones beyond their
natural limits.

Elemental Stones:  As it sounds, these are stones that hold are a condensed form of an element. The elements
that the stones come in are
Fire (heat), Water, Air, Earth, Dark (void), Light.

As an example, Fire Stones, like any Elemental Stone can be picked up by someone who doesn't have a Fire Aura
and can allow them to use the magic in a simple burst. Someone who is already a Fire Mage could use one to aid
them in having more power to a spell. The downside of such stones, is that there is a limit to what one's body can
take. Many mages have fallen victim to '
Magic Overload'.

Ring Stones: Are the smallest Naturally formed stone. They are usually found on the cusp of whatever energy
there is to make larger elemental stones. The tiny Elemental Stones usually are pearl sized, or slightly oval and
rarely egg shaped. They're always smooth and shine nicely. Most people prefer these stones above others since
they're very pretty and are very difficult to damage. Most people, even non mages will have a ring with a Ring stone.
Some people have a different type of Ring Stone. Ones that have been shaped from a larger Elemental Stone.
These are simply called 'Battle Ring Stones'. Due to the larger stone, it has been imbued with more magic than a
normal ring stone which has very little. These stones are far more expensive but many Mages like them since they're
small, and it makes it very difficult to Magic Overload due to them. Even if one has all fingers with the same element
ring.

Rare Stones:

Float:
Naturally occurring Float or Levitate Stones are so rare that many people believe them to be hoaxes.
Normally 'Float Stones' are an imbued piece of crystal that has been made by many careful and 'caring' and effort
filled hours by mages. Very rarely would someone need a Float stone Specifically. Many people would use an Air
stone to achieve the same thing. The only difference is that with an Air Stone, you have to concentrate, while a Float
Stone will continually float without effort from the user. It only need be held to work.

RUNES

General:

Are markings that can either be drawn onto a surface or tattooed onto the body that is imbued with a specific magic
type or a specific magical action.

Tattooed Runes: tend to be used with 'Magical Actions' such as a specific type of 'float' to create the ever popular
'
Floaty Runes'. 'Larger' girls can get the small runes placed under their arms at the side of their breasts. Once the
tattoos are done, the working mage will then slowly magically charge the runes to the point where they will act like a
well made bra.

Due to a Tattooed Rune being a separate 'energy' added to the body, it can take between a day and a week for the
individual's native aura to settle. During this time, using magic is not recommended, since it can throw off the settling
rune's magic and may be cause for the rune to have to be 'reset'. Meaning the magic done over again.

Because the Floaty Run 'connects' and merges with the persons natural aura, it is very hard to disrupt. It should
also be noted that unfortunately, some people's aura's are very unaccepting of rune magic can't adjust. There are
studies being done by some Scholars to figure out ways around this for people who wish to have this convenience
and medical runes and can't.

Drawn Runes: are temporary, and are used if you need a magical boost but don't want it to be permanent. Due to
it's temporary use, even if the individual's aura doesn't want to 'accept' the magic for a permanent time, the limited
nature of a Drawn rune, allows the one that it's been placed upon to benefit from it.

MAGIC FIELDS

General:

There are two types of magic fields. Natural and Artificial.

A magic field is a permanent magical augmentation that applies to specific areas. The effects can be pretty much
anything but they tend to be more subtle in comparison to what Runes or normal magic would allow.

Artificial Magic Fields: are created usually by more than one mage through elaborate magical rituals. These
magic fields usually do something very specific. The most common example is a void field. When created this magic
Field restricts anyone from casting magic within it. Most commonly used in buildings of importance to prevent rogue
mages from "remodeling". It bears noting that in order to keep these fields stable they have to be maintained every
once in a while.

Natural Magic Fields: are created when a group of magical objects, such as books, orbs, weapons, or anything
imbued with magical essence are left in a group or an area together. The way this can happen, is from old battles,
conflicts or the like where these items were never retrieved, allowing them to sit and 'grow' off of each other. The
most common type of magic field that you can get from this are unstable and volatile. When casting magic in one of
these fields disastrous results will occur.  Every mage would feel the disruption or the 'field' in the aura, or if they're
not the most observant person, while they were building the energy within themselves to cast a spell.

MAGIC OVERLOAD

General:

Magic Overload happens when a mage absorbed or is exposed to too much magic at one time. This does not count
if the magic is being cast as a spell.

Old Magical artifacts are the biggest 'outside' reason for this to happen to a mage. The other way for the 'average'
mage to suffer from this is when they haven't been using their magic enough, if it's something they practice with
every day.
